Here’s How It Went
Now we know what you’re thinking — the Peach State is pretty far from the Pine Tree State. But don’t worry, you’re not getting rid of us that easy! We purchased our retirement home with a Short Term Rental (STR) mortgage and will be renting the property until we’re ready to hang up our real estate hats in exchange for golf clubs and museum maps.
We were thinking: “We help people buy and sell houses on a daily basis — buying our own place should be a piece of cake, right?”
Even with all of our real estate experience, we still felt overwhelmed by all the unknowns that come with looking at homes in a place we know very little about.
Luckily, we had great agents on our side. Our Realtors were a local husband and wife team (sound like anyone else you know?); the two-for-one, holistic approach made the process as seamless as possible. They were just as invested as we were in finding the perfect place for us, and we would have been so lost without them.
In addition to purchasing our retirement home and gaining some great real estate friends along the way, we also have a new perspective of what it’s like to purchase a home in an unfamiliar place.
That’s why we’ll be sharing our whole experience with you — from the factors that went into choosing where we wanted to retire, to choosing the STR mortgage, to how we flipped and furnished the place on a budget!
